Mark Lowe - Bin 15 at M:ST in Calgary

Mark Lowe's installation/performance audio piece, BIN 15, is coming to Calgary for M:ST (Mountain Standard Time) performance arts festival next month!! With thanks to the M:ST festival, EMMEDIA, City of Calgary, and the Saskatchewan Arts Board!

Mark will be constructing a grain silo down by Eau Claire Market on October 11th and 12th. The performances with collaborators Brodie Mohninger and Steve Leidal will happen on Friday, October 15th and Thursday October 21st at 7pm.

If you'd like to take part in the construction, show up at 9am on the 11th with some boots, work gloves, and a 14mm or 11/16 " or 3/8" wrench if you can (kudos if you have all three)!

Mark will be performing conceptual sound pieces and compositions using the silo and other agricultural implements as our instruments. These pieces are meant to reflect the passing of a nostalgic rural way of life as agriculture becomes more commercialized in more globally demanding times. Also, to evoke the natural and industrial soundscapes created on the prairies that an urban audience would not normally get to experience.

There will also be other performances occurring within the silo featuring some of Calgary's most prominent experimental musicians.
Saturday October 16th at noon will feature the Bent Spoon Duo (Chris Dadge and Scott Munro), Eric Hamelin and Jay Crocker, and David Laing.

The silo will be open to the public from noon until 3pm most everyday of the festival until the 22nd when it will be taken down.
People are welcome to come down and enter the silo to create their own 'musique concrète'.
